FEBRUARY Farm Update
FORSYTHIAS
Who doesn’t love those bright cheery little flowers? They are the bravest of flowers, blooming before anyone else and even in snow. When my kids were little we would go for walks or drives looking for Forsythias. We called it “The Forsythia Hunt”. They loved yelling; ” there is one” and we always picked a bouquet and enjoyed those happy little yellow blossoms for as long as we could.
Here is a trick I want to share with everyone. Last year I picked forsythias before they bloomed and put them in the house in a vase of water. They bloomed and I enjoyed them an entire month before my tree bloomed. If you look at your forsythia branches and they have buds on the branches then you can force them to bloom in the house.
HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS AS MUCH AS I HAVE!
The girls are getting fatter with babies. Kidding season starts in March. Odin, my buck, went to live with a new family this year and I am in search of a new blood line for my girls next year. Some of the hens have gone broody and we should have baby chicks this month. That is one of my favorite sites is little fluffs following their mom around the barn yard. I can watch them for hours.
The soap kitchen had a face lift this winter! I got a free kitchen counter and cupboards from a customer who was remodeling her kitchen and another customer sold me a 10 foot stainless steal sink/counter top for super cheap and my husband is busy figuring out how to be a carpenter
………………….I want to scream from the mountain tops how excited I am! I have purchased professional soap equipment this last year and after 14 years I am going to have a professional soap kitchen. No more folding tables, boxes stacked and hot plates. I did it by saving money, finding stuff for free and trading customers products to help me with electricity and plumbing! Everyone has been so supportive and I did it without a loan and any dept. It took 14 years and BUT I DID IT! I wish my mom were alive she would be ecstatic. I really miss having that kind of cheerleader in my life. She would be over here painting, scrubbing and helping me and of course doing what mom’s do by saying “you are the most talented daughter in the world!” LOL! Hug your mom today.
I couldn’t do this without my wonderful customers and loving husband and my children! Thank you for all your support, amazing kind words and just plain loving my products!
May February find you full of hope and happiness!
Kim (your friendly soap goddess)
